If the Yankees are able to win a World Series title in 2021 they will be able to look back on these three moves as big wins for the franchise.

The Yankees will begin the 2021 regular-season with the same goal they aim for during every campaign. Anything short of a World Series title will be deemed a failure in New York. If the franchise does end their lengthy title drought, they’ll be able to look back on this offseason as a big reason why.

Brian Cashman and his front office didn’t enact a lot of roster turnover this winter, but they did make several key moves to position the roster for both regular and postseason success. Of course, some transactions will age better than others.

This article identifies the three pieces of Yankees’ business that will look the best when all is said and done with the 2021 season. It’s safe to expect more moves to happen in season, but for now, Yankees fans should be content with the following three moves.

3. Keeping Clint Frazier

Sometimes the best moves a team can make is to just stand pat. That’s not a popular practice for Yankees fans, but in the case of Clint Frazier, doing nothing will work to the team’s advantage.

Frazier was a prominent name in trade talks for a variety of big-name stars this offseason, but none of those deals can anywhere close to fruition. As it stands, Frazier can comfortably be penciled in as Aaron Boone’s everyday left-fielder heading into Spring Training.

At his best, Frazier gives the Yankees another power bat from the right-hand side. Perhaps more importantly, he also gives the team a plus-outfielder to deploy on a regular basis. That combination could make him a fringe All-Star candidate in 2021. The Yankees need to let this full season play out before calibrating Frazier’s value in a potential trade.
