Outfielder Yoenis Cespedes are holding a showcase for interested clubs on March 2. Here are three teams who could be bold enough to sign him prior to the 2021 season.

Spring Training is currently underway and games are scheduled to take place this Sunday. While players are with their respective MLB teams, there are still some rather big names that remain on the open market. One of those players is outfielder Yoenis Cespedes.

The slugger was at one point the Mets’ biggest star after acquiring him at the trade deadline in 2015. In recent years, Cespedes was bit by the injury bug on numerous occasions. Injuries to both his heels and a fractured right ankle have limited him to just 46 games since 2018.

Cespedes is set to hold a showcase for all interested teams on March 2 down in Florida. Much like the workout held by Corey Kluber, you can expect more than half the league to show up to see if Cespedes can provide a spark in the batters box and defense in the outfield. But who should sign him?

Here are three teams that could be bold enough to sign Cespedes to a contract for the 2021 season.

This cannot be stressed enough — the San Francisco Giants need outfield help. Given that the Giants just fell short of reaching the postseason after a regular-season finale loss to the San Diego Padres, you would think the team would like to build upon that.

The corner outfield spots are set with Alex Dickerson and Mike Yastrzemski, but there is a huge void. Mauricio Dubon is a utility man who can play second base and shortstop, but given the presences of Tommy La Stella and Brandon Crawford at those spots, he is solely placed at the top of the center field depth chart.

Adding Cespedes presents itself as a low-risk, high-reward signing for the Giants, who are going to see a purge in talent next winter. If they want to make one final tour with the band, adding the former Mets outfielder would be a great signing that provides depth and experience to left and center fields.
