The Los Angeles Dodgers are back to defend their World Series championship and are already breaking bats 3 games into the season.
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs faced off on Thursday evening as both teams look to find their footing in this young MLB season. The Cubs came into the matchup 2-0, having taken down the San Diego Padres and Kansas City Royals in their first two outings. The defending champs also entered the night’s festivities undefeated, knocking off the Oakland A’s and Colorado Rockies before being met by the Cubs.
Chicago jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after Nico Hoerner scored on a throwing error by Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes. Los Angeles has tried to get themselves going in this one and it just hasn’t worked out.
Edwin Rios shatters bat in Dodgers matchup with Cubs
In the bottom of the third inning, Dodgers infielder Edwin Rios took the plate. He would eventually ground out into a double play but not before shattering his bat in one of the most peculiar ways ever.
Check out the angle at which Rios’ bat disconnected.
The precision that it must’ve taken to have the ball hit so low on the bat. That’s definitely not something that you see every day, or ever for that matter.
Los Angeles still hasn’t gotten their bats involved tonight as the Cubs have blown their lead open even more now. The Cubs are up 7-0 and it looks like Dodgers’ bats just simply aren’t feeling it tonight.
