Did the Astros really have to complain to MLB about Yankees fans because of all the heckling from the stands this week?
Fans are back in the stands in 2021 and that means the Houston Astros get to hear constant chants about how they cheated. They were sorely mistaken if they thought anyone would forget.
New York Yankees fans were loud and proud this week as the two teams squared off in the Bronx. Jose Altuve got it the worst and the NSFW videos were plentiful with chants directed toward him.
None of this came as a shock. However, a rumor did emerge the Astros complained to MLB about the hecklers. The Athletic’s Lindsey Adler shut down that rumor and gave an explanation of how it originated.
Astros did not complain about the heckling Yankees fans
Security guards can say just about whatever they want and that appears to be how this rumor started. The guard may have just wanted to take away a part of the Oscar the Grouch costume that could have been thrown onto the field.
Let’s pause to laugh at the fact someone had an Oscar the Grouch costume in the first place.
This type of hate is not going away and Yankees fans were creative all series long. Several got thrown out and to them, it was likely all worth it.
The Astros complaining to MLB would have opened them up to even more jeers. For now they are just choosing to deal with it and take it all in.
