Having fans back in the stands is great for baseball. At the White Sox-Cardinals game, it led to an altercation in the bleachers.
Tony La Russa’s matchup against his former team may be the main storyline from this week’s White Sox-Cardinals series, but it’s not stealing all the headlines. No, that goes to perhaps the best base-brawl we’ve seen in quite some time, thanks to these no-so-friendly bleacher creatures.
In a true melting pot of fighting talent, these White Sox (and one Cardinals fan, it would appear) jumped all over each other in an attempt to come out victorious. While they may root for the same team on the field, everyone was out for blood.
White Sox and Cardinals not distracted by beef playing out in the stands
For what it’s worth, props to the White Sox and Cardinals players for not getting drawn into what was actually a surprisingly long fight in the stands.
The White Sox took the first game of this series, breaking out of a brief slump cause by a trip to the Bronx to take on the surging New York Yankees. Chicago and Tony La Russa have hit a slump lately on the South Side, and a win over his old team could be just what they need to increase their lead in the AL Central standings.
