Cody Bellinger’s ninth-inning home run secured the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 3-2 walk-off victory over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers ended a four-game losing streak on Friday night with a 6-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs. As of late Saturday night, the Dodgers now have themselves a winning streak thanks to the power of star outfielder Cody Bellinger.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Bellinger stepped into the batter’s box to face off against Cubs reliever Keegan Thompson after A.J. Pollock grounded out and Matt Beaty flew out. On a 3-1 count, Bellinger crushed a 89.9-mph cutter from Thompson and sent it into the right-center field stands of Dodger Stadium to give Los Angeles the 3-2 walk-off victory.

What a shot by Bellinger, who entered the game in the seventh inning to replace pitcher Garrett Cleavinger.

This ended what turned out to be a stressful game for the Dodgers. They took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after an RBI double by Max Muncy and an RBI single by Justin Turner.  But the Cubs came storming back to tie things up after a solo home run by Anthony Rizzo in the fourth inning and a double by Ian Happ in the fifth.

The two teams will meet in the fourth and final game of the weekend series on Sunday. Clayton Kershaw will take the mound for the Dodgers to face off against Cubs starter Adbert Alzolay.
