Watch hilarious ump show ejection of Eric Hosmer in Padres vs. Reds game

Umpire Hunter Wendelstedt ejected San Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer with flair during Tuesday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds.

In nearly every game, an MLB player has questions about the calls the home plate umpire is making. For San Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer, he saw firsthand what happens if you disagree with and/or get under the skin of umpire Hunter Wendelstedt.

During San Diego’s game against the Cincinnati Reds, Hosmer was upset over a ball being called strike three by Wendelstedt. In the seventh inning, the first baseman yelled at Wendelstedt in between pitches from Sean Doolittle to Tommy Pham from the dugout. The home plate umpire heard enough, as he ripped off his mask and emphatically ejected Hosmer.

“Boom! How ’bout that then?” You get the sense that this quote from Wendelstedt is going to be plastered on T-shirts to be sold in the very near future.

This was the fifth-time that Hosmer had been ejected in his 11-year career. At the time of his exit on Tuesday night, Hosmer went one-for-three at the plate where he struck out one, walked once and scored a run.

Wendelstedt’s five words will be echoed by baseball fans across the world, thanks in part to his ejection of Hosmer went viral on social media.
