The Atlanta Braves have serious interest in trading for Miami Marlins outfielder Adam Duvall.
Though the Atlanta Braves would love to bring back outfielder Adam Duvall in a deadline deal, the Miami Marlins seem a tad reluctant in trading him to a division rival in late July.
Jon Heyman of The MLB Network reports the Braves have inquired about Duvall’s availability. Five of his 22 home runs on the year have come against Atlanta, a team he helped win the last three NL East crowns for. Either the Marlins did not like Atlanta’s best trade offer for Duvall or the Fish are not cool with helping out their divisional foe whatsoever. For now, Atlanta is striking out here.
Letting Duvall go this past winter was a huge mistake for the Braves, and everybody knows this.

While the Marlins are 10 games back of the New York Mets in the NL East race, the Braves are one game below .500 on the year at 50-51 and within striking distance of the Amazins at only four games back. Atlanta is very much alive in the divisional race and will not admit defeat heading into the trade deadline. Besides fixing its inconsistent bullpen, improving the outfield would be a must.
Atlanta already traded for Joc Pederson in a deal with the Cubs. He is effectively replacing Ronald Acuña Jr. in right field the rest of the way. Duvall could play left field to help mitigate the disaster that is the Marcell Ozuna four-year contract signed back in February. While trading for Duvall will help give the Braves the offensive firepower they need in the outfield, Miami holds all the cards.
If Atlanta wants to bring back Duvall this season, the Braves will have to give up a ton to Miami.
