Former Chicago Cubs slugger Kris Bryant took time to sign autographs for fans before Thursday night’s game. Bryant, now with the Rockies, is a Cub for life.
Bryant signed a loaded deal with the Rockies this offseason for seven years and $182 million. It was a contract that didn’t make a lot of sense at the time from Colorado’s perspective, as they’re years away from contention.
As for Bryant, he gets to live in Denver, rake in money and put up gaudy statistics at Coors Field, so he’s living the life.
KB is the new face of the franchise in Colorado. Nolan Arenado — or myself, for that matter — may not understand it, but the ink is dry. On Thursday night, Bryant didn’t forget his roots, signing autographs for Chicago fans before the game.

Bryant was a homegrown Cubs prospect, and despite the fact things didn’t work out on the North Side of Chicago, it was rumored he’d be interested in a reunion as recently as this offseason.
KB has proven he has the defensive flexibility and power necessary to warrant a big contract. He received that in Colorado, putting an end to any Windy City dreams for now.
Regardless, it’s clear he still has love for Cubs fans, and will for years to come. The Chicago legend brought a World Series trophy to the franchise for the first time in over 100 years. He can get free beers in Wrigleyville for life.
