Freddie Freeman’s former agent: Braves creating ‘false narrative’ about departure

The Freddie Freeman drama continues as his former agent, Casey Close, is accusing the Braves of creating a ‘false narrative’ about the star’s free agency.

If you thought that the Freddie Freeman drama regarding his departure from the Atlanta Braves this offseason in free agency was going to subside after he parted ways with his agent, Casey Close, you were sorely mistaken.

Since that transpired, things have only gotten uglier regarding the situation. It started with FOX Sports’ Doug Gottlieb floating a report that Freeman was “duped” by his agent in that Close never told him Atlanta’s final contract offer this past offseason prior to him signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

However, Close refuted that report on Wednesday night just a few hours since it came out while he and Excel Sports Management threatened legal action against Gottlieb for his report. That, however, was not the last word from Close.

Freddie Freeman: Former agent Casey Close calls out Braves for creating ‘false narrative’

On Thursday, Close released a statement to Jeff Passan of ESPN stating that the Braves were trying to create a “false narrative” about Freeman’s departure.

Close continued, stating that he’d communicated every contract offer to Freddie Freeman and his family and that any suggestion otherwise was false.

If you’re thinking that this is a lot of finger pointing and playing the blame game, you’re not wrong. This feels like a lot of schoolyard tattling at this point, only with millions of dollars involved. However, it’s noteworthy that Close is specifically calling out the Braves for perpetrating this narrative right now.

Given how things have transpired since dropping Close and leaving Excel, don’t expect this to be the last we hear of this saga.
