Atlanta Braves, Detroit Tigers

Miguel Cabrera’s son’s favorite player is an NL superstar, not his dad

Miguel Cabrera is on his way to the Hall of Fame eventually but the Tigers legend’s son doesn’t have his dad down as his favorite MLB player.

There are few better to ever play baseball at the highest level than Miguel Cabrera. He’s going into Cooperstown as soon as possible after he hangs up his cleats, which is why it was such an honor at the MLB All-Star Game for the Detroit Tigers legend, along with Cardinals legend Albert Pujols, to be added to the AL and NL rosters, respectively.

Naturally, he was one of the toasts of the town in Los Angeles this week as everyone had questions for Cabrera. One of those questions was about his son, particularly who is son’s favorite player is.

No, it isn’t Miggy and it isn’t even someone on the Detroit Tigers. It’s not even an American League player. Instead, the young Cabrera’s favorite player is Atlanta Braves young star Ronald Acuña Jr.

Cabrera smirked as he told reporters at the All-Star Game that Acuña was his son’s favorite player.

Though it would be fitting for his son’s favorite player to be Miggy, you have to expect this from a younger kid. Acuña is one of the brightest and most exciting young stars in baseball. It’s hard for anyone not to love him, especially someone in the younger generations.

Even still, it’s hilarious that the Tigers legend has to go out onto the diamond every day knowing that he isn’t even his own flesh and blood’s favorite player. And it might create a bit of an awkward (though likely incredible given how Cabrera and Acuña generally act) interaction whenever the Tigers face the Braves.
