The Houston Astros had a no-hitter going through six innings. Former teammate and current Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa ended it.
Aug. 23, 2022 was a special day for the Houston Astros, as former shortstop Carlos Correa made his return to town as a member of the Minnesota Twins. The Astros held a ceremony for Correa ahead of their game, and he received a standing ovation from the fans when stepping into the batter’s box for the first time as a member of the away team.
In that same game, Correa found a way to break the hearts of the Astro fanbase.
Astros ace Justin Verlander pitched six no-hit innings against the Twins. Manager Dusty Baker decided to pull Verlander from the game and brought in reliever Ryne Stanek to take over. In the very first at-bat of the top of the seventh inning, Correa hit a single to center field to officially bring an end to Houston’s no-hitter.

What a roller coaster of emotions for those inside Minute Maid Park on Tuesday night.
Correa was left stranded on first base, as Jorge Polanco and Jose Miranda struck out swinging in the next two at-bats, while Gilberto Celestino lined out to first baseman Yuli Gurriel to bring an end to the inning.
Last year, the Astros and Correa were unable to reach an agreement on a contract. Following the 2021 World Series, Correa tested out free agency and remained there until mid-March. The Twins were able to sign Correa to a three-year, $105.3 million contract. The contract is actually a year-by-year deal, as he has player options for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. So, it is entirely possible he tests out free agency.
As for those Astros fans who think there is a possibility that Correa can return to the team soon, you will not like his answer.
