Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies

Phillies-Astros rainout is bad news for Eagles fans

The Philadelphia Phillies World Series game has been postponed, and now it will take place about the same time as the Philadelphia Eagles game.

The Philadelphia Eagles may have to take the back seat to their fellow professional sports team, the Philadelphia Phillies, as the weather delayed Game 3 of the World Series and set them back a day. The two teams will now both play on Thursday, ironically against Houston, around the same time.

The Eagles are set to play at 8:15 PM E.T. and the Phillies at 8:03 PM. The Eagles are on fire this season as the only undefeated team thus far, but the Phillies are in the playoffs for the first time since 2011 and in the World Series for the first time since 2009. Both are doing exceptionally well, and it’ll definitely be tough for fans of both teams to decide who to watch.

At this rate, it’d be worth it for the city to cheer on the Phillies while they can and then continue to cheer on the Eagles as they make more and more of a case as to why they’re the best team in the NFL this season.

Though there’s still plenty of time to the NFL season, it wouldn’t be shocking if the Eagles made it to the Super Bowl, so Philadelphia fans will likely have a shot at rooting for their team in another championship.

The Eagles seem to be likely Super Bowl contenders at this rate

The Eagles are undoubtedly one of the best teams in the NFL. They have some great players who truly know how to play well together. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is a great example of a player the Eagles needed. Though he didn’t start his career back in 2020 the best, he grew into his role as starter and is excelling this season.

He’s filling the hole that Carson Wentz left when he departed from Philadelphia, and this season is particularly showcasing just how stellar he can be. In seven starts, he’s completed 67 percent of his passes over 1,799 yards and has 10 passing touchdowns.

According to Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Hurts and Tom Brady are the only quarterbacks “in NFL history who’ve been at 67 percent, 250 yards per game, 16 total touchdowns and two or fewer interceptions in a 7-0 start.”

He’s also the only quarterback who’s “averaged 12.4 yards per attempt and an interception every 50 or more attempts.”

He and wide receiver AJ Brown are a force to be reckoned with, as Brown proved with three touchdowns in the first half of Sunday’s game. Add Dallas Goedert and DeVonta Smith into the equation and there’s a solid team that’s one of the most difficult to take down in the league.

Philadelphia is in for a great year of professional sports, so even though they may have to unfortunately put the Eagles on the back burner to watch the World Series, they’ll likely get to witness much more success from them in the near future.
