Houston Astros, New York Yankees

Houston Astros almost sure to pursue several former Yankees

The Houston Astros could be bringing the New York Yankees over to Houston during this off-season as several players are on the market.

Several former Yankees have officially hit the free agency market, and Houston is reportedly after quite a few of them. They’re ultimately looking to sign a left-handed outfielder, with Aaron Judge being the hottest commodity on the market.

As for other Yankees, they’re also reportedly eyeing Andrew Benintendi and Joey Gallo, which could certainly give the team an extra boost in the lineup. In terms of the current outfield, the Astros have Kyle Tucker, Chas McCormick, Jake Meyers and Yordan Alvarez to hold things down.

Tucker is great in the lineup, but this depth ultimately poses problems as Alvarez is typically a designated hitter and it doesn’t leave many options for backup if a player gets injured or can’t start for any reason.

The Astros are clearly a lethal team in general as they won the World Series, presumably without cheating in 2022, but they still have room for improvement and it’s important for them to focus on fixing what they can during the offseason.

If the Astros do sign a few former Yankees and have great success with them, it could certainly be an interesting perspective for New York fans to see what the team could’ve been.

Astros signing former Yankees could show interesting progression

The Yankees in consideration all had different timelines in New York, but it could certainly be interesting to see them all come together and play for the Astros and see how well they perform together.

The Astros have truly risen over the past few seasons, while the Yankees have faced some trouble to remain one of the best teams in the league as they had been for so many years. If this offseason essentially unites former Yankees players and proves they can bring success to the caliber of the Astros the past few years, it’ll be interesting to see just how well the Yanks could’ve done with different moves.
