Keith Hernandez has trouble with Jazz Chisholm’s name (Video)

Keith Hernandez had more trouble with Jazz Chisholm’s name than he ever had with the curve.

One would think Keith Hernandez would know how to pronounce Jazz Chisholm’s name by now.

The New York Mets legend has been calling their games for years. With them playing in the same division as the Miami Marlins, you can safely say that the Mets get busy with the Fish on the reg. Although Chisholm may be learning a new position, it seemed to have caught Hernandez … a bit off-guard. Since when did Dirk Diggler and Brandon St. Randy play in the outfield for the Marlins?

Hardly seems right, but Hernandez has not been this confused since the Seinfeld spitting incident.

Batter up! Keith Hernandez strikes out in pronouncing Jazz Chisholm’s name

This isn’t as awkward as Nick Castellanos going yard mid-Thom Brennaman apology, but it is just about as funny as AI Joe Buck doing play-by-play of the bombing of Hiroshima. At the beginning of the day, we all run on Dunkin’. What would actually make this even more hilarious is if this gets in Hernandez’s head, Chuck Knoblauch style. All that jazz should be a cool time during the season.

With RSN’s potentially on their last leg, we could be missing out on more splendid moments such as these. SNY is a big deal in a huge market, but only televises its games locally. Fortunately for us, the internet remains undefeated. Anything you say can and will be used against you, especially for the sake of creating most delicious content. The best part is Chisholm had no idea this happened.

Ultimately, baseball is a grind. If you are a position player like Chisholm, you have to perform every day or your TV partners and the people who watch you from a screen at home will hate you and get upset. But let’s not cry over the spilled milk here. Hernandez can deny that this has never happened to him before, but he doesn’t have a Roger McDowell to blame for his blatant misfire.

Jazz may be Chisholm’s nickname, but we now know what his given stage name would have been.
