Cubs among teams interested in Jackie Bradley Jr.

Veteran outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. is receiving interest from multiple clubs this offseason including the Chicago Cubs.

Now that he’s officially a free agent, you better believe 30-year-old outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. is a wanted man by multiple clubs. While Bradley Jr. can make you pay when he’s at the plate, he’s also known for his incredible play defensively.

That’s why it should come as no surprise that the Chicago Cubs are reportedly among the teams who have interest in signing him this winter. Could we end up seeing Bradley Jr. at Wrigley Field starting in 2021?

The Cubs could end up making a move to sign outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr.

Bradley Jr. spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Boston Red Sox, making his debut at Fenway Park in 2012. After nearly a decade with Boston, Bradley Jr. is ready for the next step in his career.

Why not Chicago? It’d be a wise addition for the Cubs, as they could most certainly use such a great veteran presence for the outfield. Bradley Jr. is a standout center fielder and his consistency defensively is something Cubs fans would never have to worry about. A one-time All-Star, he also has plenty of power.

During the shortened 2020 MLB campaign, Bradley Jr. hit seven homers and posted 22 RBI. For his career, he has 98 dingers to his name. Unfortunately for the Cubs, they’re also facing some stiff competition, as MLB insider Jon Morosi is reporting the Phillies, Blue Jays and others are also interested in signing Bradley Jr.

While nothing appears to be imminent, Chicago could be wise to try and get out in front and finish things off here sooner than later. Seeing Bradley Jr. sign elsewhere would be a big-time bummer for the organization.
