Boston Red Sox fans weren’t ready for an Opening Day rainout. Frankly, who can blame them?
The Red Sox were scheduled to play the Baltimore Orioles this afternoon at Fenway Park, but sadly Mother Nature didn’t cooperate. April 1 is notorious for being a day full of tomfoolery, but this was no joke — the Red Sox game against the O’s is postponed until Friday afternoon, as storms have entered the Boston area and likely won’t go away until Friday.
Boston fans pleaded with the Sox not to postpone Opening Day, which means so much to those not just around Fenway Park, but all of baseball. Opening Day is the unofficial start of spring, and setting it back a day just feels wrong.
Red Sox fans went through all the emotions over Opening Day rainout
Yes, for this. 45 and rain isn’t exactly optimal baseball weather, dude.
We appreciate the take from our junior meteorologist, but it’s okay to let out your emotions in a more respectable manner, folks.
Orioles fans even offered to help out, should Boston make the short trip down to Baltimore.
And no, this is not just a really bad April Fool’s joke. No baseball franchise is that dumb.
We promise, not one.
At least the Red Sox gave fans plenty of notice?
As unhappy as Red Sox fans are at the moment, would they prefer to wait around 10 hours to watch the end of Game 1? Assuming the weather cooperates on Friday, this will all be behind us shortly. Strap in, there’s only 161 more after Opening Day.
