Derrick Lewis is a hilarious UFC fighter, but his first pitch attempt at the July 7 Houston Astros game is sure to cause a lot of laughter
Derrick Lewis hits hard as one of the most powerful, destructive heavyweights currently on the UFC roster. But his pitching needs a lot of work.
Lewis, a Houston, TX, native, made an appearance at Minute Maid Park on July 7 and threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to a game between the Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics.
It didn’t exactly go well.

Things got funnier when the Astros’ mascot, Orbit, posed for a photo with Lewis, holding up a sign that simply read “He’s ok.”
In addition to his MMA accomplishments, Lewis can now live alongside the likes of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Carly Rae Jepsen for some of the more memorable and laughable first pitches.
UFC 265 takes place on Aug. 7 at the Toyota Center in Houston. In the main event of that card, Lewis will battle undefeated up-and-comer Ciryl Gane for the interim UFC heavyweight championship and the right to next challenge undisputed champ Francis Ngannou.
