St. Louis Cardinals hurler Johan Oviedo has come out and explained why he lost his mind on Mike Yastrzemski on Wednesday night.
On Wednesday night, St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Johan Oviedo looked like he was ready to dance with Giants’ Mike Yastrzemski. Oviedo was caught on camera telling Yastrzemski to ‘shut the (expletive) up’ multiple times.
What in the heck led to the pitcher having that reaction? Well, Oviedo has come out and broken his silence on things, stating he thought that Yastrzemski was giving away some signs. Because of that, he was red hot. At the end of the day, however, it was just a misunderstanding.
Pitcher Johan Oviedo has cleared up his misunderstanding with Mike Yastrzemski
In case you missed the clip of Oviedo basically blowing a gasket, you can find it below. He was furious with what was going on. That’s what led to him really letting Yastrzemski have it in a way you wouldn’t want to show your grandmother.
To make things worse for Oviedo, the Giants went on to win the game 5-2. Oviedo lasted four innings, giving up three hits and two earned runs. He also walked four batters. His incident with Yastrzemski came in the bottom of the second, with the Giants holding on to a 2-1 lead.
Fortunately for the two sides here, things have been cleared up and there’s no beef whatsoever. Oviedo went viral for the tongue lashing he provided, but there’s nothing else to see here. For the Cardinals, it’s been a frustrating season, as they’re currently 43-45 and in fourth place of the NL Central standings.
Before the season got underway, the club had expectations of not only winning the division, but also making noise in the postseason. They’ll need a big second half to make that come true.
