Los Angeles Dodgers fans voiced their displeasure towards the Houston Astros, Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa during Tuesday night’s game.
The Los Angeles Dodgers fanbase has waited over a year to give the Houston Astros the business after they were found by MLB to have illegally and electronically stolen signs throughout the 2017 season. That was the year the Astros won the World Series by defeating the Dodgers in seven games. With fans back in attendance this season, the Dodgers had the chance to boo the Astros during their visit to Dodger Stadium.
The tone was set during Astros batting practice, as Dodgers fans threw balls back onto the field. In the top of the first inning, LA fans booed second baseman Jose Altuve when he stepped up to home plate and chanted “cheater” towards shortstop Carlos Correa. Shortly afterwards, they even threw an (inflatable?) trash can on the field.
Again, this all happened in the first inning.

Altuve did get the better of the fans at the moment, as he hit a leadoff single to center field. He was later tagged out after Michael Brantley grounded into a double play. As for Correa, he struck out on a foul tip to end the top of the inning.
The fans were not done there, throwing another trash can onto the field during Altuve’s second at-bat in the top of the third inning.
The two teams met last season, which featured Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly mocking Correa after striking him out, resulting in the benches clearing. Kelly received an eight-game suspension by the league, later reduced to five games, as a result.
When the two teams met earlier this year at Minute Maid Park, there was a section of Dodgers fans that loudly chanted “cheaters” toward the Astros on their home turf.
The Astros expected to face a hostile crowd in Los Angeles. Hopefully, things do not escalate to the point where players and fans are put in danger.
