An already stilted season for Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is on hold again after Milwaukee placed their star on the COVID list.
Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich is on the COVID list and will miss at least 10 days of action while he recovers.
Yelich, who is fully vaccinated, tested positive for COVID-19 after developing symptoms on Monday, per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. Second baseman Jace Peterson also landed on the COVID list because of contact tracing. He will be out for a minimum of seven days.
While Milwaukee delayed their departure for their road trip to Pittsburgh so the team could undergo testing and contact tracing, the series with the Pirates is still scheduled to go on, according to McCalvy.

The good news is the Brewers are getting Lorenzo Cain back from the injured list on Tuesday. They’re bringing up Pablo Reyes from Triple-A to fill the other open roster spot with Yelich and Peterson out.
How could Yelich get COVID-19 if he was fully vaccinated? The COVID-19 vaccines are not 100 percent effective against contracting the coronavirus, so it is still possible for a fully vaccinated person to test positive. However, if a vaccinated person catches COVID-19, their risk of hospitalization is significantly reduced and their symptoms tend to be mild.
Yelich missed much of April while dealing with a back issue and has struggled to get his bat performing as it did in 2018 and ’19 when he was an All-Star.
