Trea Turner is loving life as a new member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
After spending his entire MLB career with the Washington Nationals, shortstop Trea Turner is really starting to dig his new situation with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Turner was dealt by the Nats to the Boys in Blue at the trade deadline, along with ace pitcher Max Scherzer. While Turner won a World Series as a member of the 2019 Nationals, he has an even better chance to win a second one now that he is with the defending World Series champions in Los Angeles. However, the Dodgers trail the hated San Francisco Giants in the NL West standings.
He has only played in one game for them, but Turner is loving on his new team over Instagram.
Trea Turner is very happy to be a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers
While Scherzer was a pending free agent, Turner still has one more year left of being arbitration-eligible before hitting unrestricted free agency in 2023. Turner is in the midst of his first All-Star season and should play a huge role in the Dodgers’ quest to win back-to-back titles. At this point, it’s championship or bust for the Dodgers, as anything less than that would be seen as a failure.
Overall, the Dodgers will be one of two, possibly three, teams in the NL West who qualify for the postseason. Los Angeles and San Francisco are duking it out with the San Diego Padres for divisional supremacy. With the Dodgers four games back of the division-leading Giants, maybe the additions of Scherzer and Turner can help Los Angeles get back to the top of the NL West?
For now, Turner seems to be happy he is playing for something of significance with the Dodgers.
