He crushed their hopes of a late comeback against the Dodgers on Friday night with a two-run home run in the 10th inning.
On Saturday, he came back and broke up Taijuan Walkers’ no-hit bid.
The Dodgers catcher has made a habit of coming up with huge plays when his team needs them most. This weekend, his ruthless streak has made him a bonafide Mets killer.

Walker went 7.1 innings without giving up a hit to Los Angeles. Smith’s homer didn’t just take away the no-hitter. It tied the game 1-1.
Things fell apart for Walker after that. He gave up a double to Corey Seager, advanced him to third on a wild pitch and walked Chris Taylor before being replaced by Aaron Loup. The reliever was able to get out of the inning by striking out Cody Bellinger.
Smith was really just getting the Mets back for putting an end to a possible no-hit bid for Walker Buehler. The Dodgers ace had no hits through 4.2 innings before Michael Conforto blasted a homer run into right field to break the deadlock.
This is a crucial series for both the Mets and their opponents. New York is one game out of first place in the hotly contested NL East. Los Angeles is looking to challenge the Giants at the top of the NL West, but they’re five games out.
The Dodgers have won five of their last six while the Mets have bounced back from a rough run with three wins in their last four.
