Luke Voit channels his inner Stone Cold Steve Austin when he hits a big homer against the Minnesota Twins.
Whenever someone makes a wrestling reference in their celebration, it almost always goes viral. When Joel Embiid did a D-Generation-X salute, he got a whole shoutout and appearance from Triple H in the NBA Playoffs. So it makes it even more cool when the trend keeps going, this time on the baseball front.
The New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins faced off Friday and we got another great wrestling reference that can be added to the vault of pro athletes and pro wrestling making its significant crossover.
New York Yankee Luke Voit gets the Stone Cold celebration after a solo home run against the Minnesota Twins
Luke Voit was having a day. He was 4-5 at the plate and got two runs for the night, but one really turned heads with the old school WWF reference (for those of us who remember). Voit hit a solo homer, pushing the lead even farther for the Yankees. The celebration didn’t stop there though.
Look familiar? That’s because he’s channeling his inner Stone Cold Steve Austin in the dugout. Voit grabs a few water bottles, unscrews them and goes to town with the family-friendly version of the Legendary wrestler’s celebration. He kinda favors him, too… just add a goatee and we’re golden.
The celebration was warranted, since the Yankees literally mopped the floor with the Twins, winning 10-2.
