Former Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander sent a congratulatory message to Miguel Cabrera on his 500th home run. Maybe they’ll play together again.
Justin Verlander and Miguel Cabrera spent the primes of their careers together with the Detroit Tigers. So you better believe Verlander took the time to record a congratulatory message for his former teammate when he hit his 500th career home run.
Verlander’s congratulatory message included praise for Cabrera as one of the greats, memories of their time together in Detroit and even an unexpected request for some underwear.
Watch it here:
The message had plenty of fans in their feelings, but people also immediately noticed that sign-off…

Tigers fans hope Justin Verlander’s “see you soon” was about a Tigers reunion
Realistically, the “see you soon” definitely has nothing to do with baseball. But still, the possibility of Verlander rejoining the Tigers is so great, stretches are welcome.
Verlander is in the final season of his contract with the Astros. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent following the 2021 season.
The biggest uncertainty is whether or not he’ll continue his career beyond this year. He underwent Tommy John surgery last year in September. He hasn’t pitched this season as a result.
He isn’t so far removed from a pair of All-Star seasons in 2018 and 2019. And in his lone appearance last year, he got a win with three earned runs allowed and seven strikeouts in six innings.
At 38 years old, Verlander is aging but could return for a final go-around if his recovery goes well enough. Detroit would be the obvious place for him to finish his career.
