San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. says he has ruled out having surgery on his shoulder: “I have taken great care of my body and that has paid off.”
Fernando Tatis Jr. insists he won’t need shoulder surgery this offseason despite reports suggesting it’ll be necessary.
On Monday, the Padres star told Yancen Pujols it won’t happen, per Héctor Gómez.
“I am ruling out having surgery on my shoulder. I have taken great care of my body and that has paid off,” Tatis Jr. said.

He also said the move to the outfield is temporary. He believes he will play shortstop again.
Tatis has been dealing with a torn labrum and a shoulder subluxation. According to Yahoo! Sports, if he had surgery the recovery would take between four and eight months. GM A.J Preller told Yahoo! that they’d agreed to talk with Tatis about the shoulder in the offseason.
Clearly, Tatis has no interest in that kind of recovery process.
