Red Sox outfielder Hunter Renfroe lasered a throw from the outfield to third base to end the game for Boston against the Rays.
Hunter Renfroe was not going to let the Red Sox lose to the Rays on Wednesday night. He just wasn’t.
The outfielder was the difference at the plate with a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth.
He saved his greatest moment for the final one of the game when Joey Wendle dropped a double into center-right. The third baseman thought he’d get an extra base off Danny Santana missing an outstretched catch. The ball trickled away towards the warning track with Renfroe chasing it down, turning and unleashing hell.
This is just an outrageous throw to end the game, catching Wendle out at third base.
Hunter Renfroe’s arm is absolutely ridiculous
The power and accuracy on that thing shouldn’t be possible.
The Red Sox had some advice for opposing players.
Renfroe’s throw essentially saved the game. The Red Sox avoided a sweep at the hands of the Rays because of it. They are now poised to take advantage of the Yankees trailing the Blue Jays in their Wednesday night battle, likely moving in front of them in the AL wild card standings.
