MLB Network announcer Jim Kaat made an insensitive comment towards White Sox star Yoan Mocada that has gone viral for the wrong reasons.
An apology from Kaat should soon follow, and there will be no Nick Castellanos home run to break this one up.
With the Chicago White Sox up to bat, Kaat stated that you could ‘get a 40 acre field full of ’em’, in reference to Moncada. Surely, Kaat will have an explanation that states he meant nothing of the sort…but what else exactly could he be referring to here?
Even if he didn’t *mean to make such a comment, expression is literally in his job description. It’s tough to believe this was a mistake, or make any assumption to the contrary.
Jim Kaat’s comment distracts from an otherwise great series
The White Sox and Astros feature a stunning pitching matchup on Friday afternoon between Lucas Giolito and Framber Valdez. Somehow, someway, the Astros continue to groom young pitchers after losing a number of their normal corps to injury.
Giolito, meanwhile, is one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. He finished the season with a 3.53 ERA, and is the head of the snake in what’s one of the best rotations in all of baseball. However, Houston is favored to come out of the American League for a reason, per Wynnbet.
Moncada, and the White Sox lineup, are a lot to deal with, but so is Houston. This series lacks one true advantage from either side, making it one of the best the Division Series’ can offer.
