The New York Yankees are expected to be busy making moves this offseason and fans would no doubt love adding Matt Olson to the lineup.
People all over the Bronx remain incredibly disappointed with the way the season ended for the New York Yankees. Fans are demanding the front office be aggressive this offseason to try and put this team back into the World Series conversation.
Well, those same people furious will surely love the latest report from Jon Morosi. Per the MLB insider, the Yankees have interest in potentially trading for Oakland Athletics first baseman Matt Olson.
Yankees trading for Matt Olson would be a massive get for New York
Olson making his way to New York really would be something for the Yankees. The star first baseman is coming off a career year, as he hit .271 and blasted 39 homers, while adding 111 RBI for the A’s. Imagine him landing in the middle of the New York lineup with Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.
While Olson alone wouldn’t get New York a World Series ring, it’d no question improve the offense and have the fans ready to believe in this team again. The 2021 campaign ended in terrible fashion for New York and no one has forgotten about it.
After closing the regular season on a hot streak to play in the AL Wild Card Game, Gerrit Cole totally choked and the Boston Red Sox took down the men in pinstripes. After that, everyone was calling for Aaron Boone to be fired.
Boone ended up signing an extension with the team. That can’t be the only big-time move the Yankees make during the offseason. Landing Olson would rock the AL East as a whole. It’ll be on Brian Cashman to go out and get him.
