Atlanta Braves fans were not pleased with home plate umpire Angel Hernandez during Monday’s game against the Washington Nationals.
One way to know how baseball season has finally arrived is when fans unite to talk about the questionable calls made by umpire Angel Hernandez. Atlanta Braves fans got a taste of it during their fifth game of the season at Truist Park against the rival Washington Nationals.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Braves were trailing 6-1. With the bases loaded, reliever Tucker Davidson was getting ready to throw a pitch to Victor Robles. That was when Hernandez was doing…something behind home plate.

Not sure what Hernandez was doing, but it certainly got the attention of those watching the game or who happened to scroll into the video above. Yet, Braves fans brought up Hernandez’s questionable strike calls throughout the game, as you can see in the tweets below:
In the eighth inning, Atlanta surrendered additional runs to Washington. Josh Bell hit an RBI single. Robles, in the video above, Robles was hit by a pitch on the fourth throw by Davidson, allowing Nelson Cruz to score. Maikel Franco then knocked in three runs on a double to right field to extend the lead to 11-1.
Atlanta would score a run in the bottom of the ninth on an Adam Duvall single, but they ultimately lost 11-2 to fall to 2-3 on the season.
