Trevor Story is not the only member of the Boston Red Sox has been struggling during this recent stretch of games.
The Boston Red Sox have struggled to start off the 2022 season, as they sit in last place in the AL East with a 10-19 record after May 8. The team has been underperforming, and one of the top free agents they have signed, Trevor Story, is one player who is struggling to start the season.
Through 24 games, Story is slashing .194/.276/.269 while recording 10 RBI, 18 hits and 35 strikeouts. Even though the numbers are not what Red Sox fans were expecting to see from the infielder, he is far from the only problem.
Red Sox have many more problems besides Trevor Story
Twitter account “Boston Sports Info” sent out the offensive statistics of Boston’s catchers, first basemen, second basemen and outfielders in the past 15 games (April 23-May 8). Spoiler alert, the collective batting stats are not good.
After seeing the lack of production at the plate at those positions, you can see why the Red Sox have only won three games in that 15 games stretch.
While this is far from ideal for Red Sox fans, given their recent postseason success, there is still plenty of season to go for them to turn it around. It is entirely possible that all players at those positions will be able to turn things around. That includes Story, who signed a six-year, $140 million contract this offseason.
The Red Sox start a two-game series against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday, May 10.
