Not even a tornado warning will keep Yu Darvish from warming up

There was a tornado warning in Chicago, but that was not stopping San Diego Padres pitcher Yu Darvish from warming up ahead of his game against the Cubs.

Last offseason, the Chicago Cubs traded pitcher Yu Darvish to the San Diego Padres. While Darvish did get to start against his former team last season, he did not have the chance to do it at Wrigley Field. But on Monday, June 13, he made his return to Chicago to start for the Padres.

However, the start of the game was delayed due to a tornado warning in Chicago. Even with the inclement weather and the tornado sirens blaring, that was not going to stop Darvish from warming up.

Tornado warning not stopping Yu Darvish from warming up

In his previous start against the Cubs on June 9, 2021, Darvish struck out eight batters, but surrendered two earned runs on three hits in seven innings in the 3-1 loss.

Entering this game, Darvish holds a 3.61 ERA, a 1.010 WHIP and a 5-3 win-loss record through 11 starts. Darvish struck out 54 batters and walked 15 in 67.1 innings of work.

Nothing was going to stop Darvish from getting into his groove ahead of the start of the game. Not a potential tornado or the loud wailing of sirens in the distance. Darvish was ready to go on Monday night.
