Expect some July New York Yankees rumors involving outfield upgrades, including these three players.
It has arrived. The midseason hot stove has a full month of action. We should expect plenty of New York Yankees rumors in the following weeks as they look to go full metal jacket into the postseason.
Recent Yankees rumors have pointed in the direction of the team’s outfield. In looking for upgrades over strugglers Joey Gallo and Aaron Hicks, Brian Cashman is expected to explore the market for everyone who calls the grass beyond the infield dirt their defensive home.
Who should the Yankees add to their arsenal?
1) Yankees Rumors: Andrew Benintendi is the obvious addition to target
Andrew Benintendi is a popular man this summer. It’s not because he is the only boy in the neighborhood with a swimming pool. It’s because he plays for a team going nowhere, is an upcoming free agent, and one of the better hitting outfielders in the league.
A member of the Kansas City Royals, Benintendi has steadily piled up hits and posted solid OBP numbers all year. A Gold Glove winner last year, he’s capable of giving the Yankees a boost in left field or center field. He’s a far better fit in left field, though.
Speaking of left, his left-handed bat did plenty of damage in the past at Yankee Stadium when he was a member of the Boston Red Sox. It could be an ultimate insult for him to land with the Yankees this summer as they look to strike down the Red Sox before the postseason or even if the two teams meet in October.
Benintendi will have a lot of suitors because of his unique talents—hitting for average at a consistent rate even without much power. He’s different from other Yankees outfielders. He’s perfect for this reason.
