With recent reports of the Milwaukee Brewers fielding trade offers for closer Josh Hader, the fanbase should not worry.
Yes, the MLB All-Star Game is a matter of weeks away, but that also means that the trade deadline is approaching. From there, it will be a matter of seeing which playoff contenders will be able secure a deal for the top players on the trading block to make a push to the World Series.
The Milwaukee Brewers are in the thick of a competitive race with the St. Louis Cardinals for the NL Central division title. However, a report from USA Today’s Bob Nightengale noted that the Brewers were willing to listen to trade offers from teams interested in star closer Josh Hader.
While this is a demoralizing things for Brewers fans to hear, don’t get too caught up in it.
No need for Brewers fans to panic about Josh Hader trade rumors
Another year, another season where trade rumors surround Hader. Over the past few years, the Brewers have indicated that they were open to talking about trade offers for Hader. Yet, nothing ever comes of it.
This may very well be a case of the Brewers just doing their due diligence. Given that the team is in contention for the division title, moving on from Hader would be quite the shocking move. Not only that, but he has one more year of arbitration remaining before he hits unrestricted free agency.
Hader is having yet another strong season for Milwaukee, as he carries a 1.88 ERA and a 0.907 WHIP through 30 appearances. That, and he leads the league with 26 saves, out of 27 opportunities. Hence why he was named to the National League team for the 2022 MLB All-Star Game.
Brewers fans, do not lose too much sleep over the trade rumors just yet. Be concerned when reports show that talks are intensifying between Milwaukee and another team on a Hader trade. That is when you should be concerned.
