Génesis Cabrera could be in some hot water with the St. Louis Cardinals. Here are three bullpen trade targets.
St. Louis Cardinals reliever Génesis Cabrera drew some criticism after he spiked the baseball when being pulled out of a game by Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol.
Cabrera has made 29 appearances on the season with a 2.60 ERA but he has struggled a bit with his control (3.9 BB/9) and he has allowed a lot of home runs (1.3 HR/9), which has led to his 4.75 FIP, suggesting that he has had a lot of good luck so far and that it could run out soon.
Here are three relievers that the Cardinals could trade for that could take some of his innings.
Cardinals trade rumors: Tigers reliever Michael Fulmer could replace Génesis Cabrera
The Detroit Tigers have one of the worst teams in baseball. They have a record 37-55 entering the All-Star break, or on pace for a 65-97 season. But, surprisingly, they have one of the best bullpens in baseball. In fact, their 3.08 ERA is the third-best in all of baseball. Nearly every team in baseball is looking for some bullpen help and the St. Louis Cardinals are no exception.
In Detroit’s bullpen, Michael Fulmer has been one of their more dominant relievers. In a setup role, he has made 35 appearances and he has a 2.38 ERA (164 ERA+). He also has a 3.34 FIP and a 1.118 WHIP.
Fulmer would be a rental since he is a free agent at the end of this season.
