The Boston Red Sox will face the Baltimore Orioles in Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the Little League Classic.
The Boston Red Sox will face the Baltimore Orioles in Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the Little League Classic on Sunday at 7 PM ET. The game will wrap up a three-game series.
The game will likely be nostalgic for MLB players, considering they were once young children dreaming of making it to the majors.
Karl Ravech, who will call the game, told Chad Finn of the Boston Globe, “This is about the Little Leaguers, but to me, it’s also the Major Leaguers who all played baseball at ages 10, 11, and 12 and ended up with those dreams of being a big leaguer coming true. It’s amazing that they’re doing what they’re doing, and it all started back then. This is a reminder of that time. It’s the connection between the past and their current status as Major League players. I think it will mean a lot to them to play there.”
The game will also be competitive for both teams as they battle for a Wild Card spot.
The Red Sox and Orioles are directly fighting against each other for a Wild Card spot
The Red Sox and Orioles are both fighting for a Wild Card spot this season. The Red Sox are having a tough season and currently sit at the bottom of the AL East standings. They’re the only team below .500.
The last place spot is all too familiar for the Orioles. They’ve finished last every season since 2017, excluding 2020. The Red Sox have finished first three times since 2016.
Despite the Red Sox playing worse than the Orioles this season, they have a higher chance of making it to the playoffs (according to FanGraphs). The Red Sox are at a 7.4 percent chance, and the Orioles are at 4.1 percent.
The game will certainly be one to watch, and it will be streamed on ESPN at 7 PM ET on Sunday.
