St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jordan Montgomery threw shade at his former team, the New York Yankees, as his tremendous stretch of games continues.
The St. Louis Cardinals were in need of starting pitching at the trade deadline. They managed to acquire Jose Quintana from the rival Pittsburgh Pirates. But at the final stretch, the Cardinals were able to acquire Jordan Montgomery from the New York Yankees in exchange for outfielder Harrison Bader.
Ever since heading to St. Louis, Montgomery has been one of the game’s best pitchers, and that stretch continued on Friday, Sept. 2. The Cardinals defeated the Chicago Cubs 8-0, as Montgomery pitched six scoreless innings, getting his fifth win in six starts with his new team.
After the game, Montgomery was asked about how he has improved since he was traded by the Yankees.Montgomery had, let’s just say, some interesting comments about his former team.

Jordan Montgomery shades Yankees after latest win with Cardinals
Yankees fans who were already feeling down have to feel worse after this.
For those wondering what stats Montgomery has recorded during his six starts with the Cardinals, he carries a 1.47 ERA, a 0.927 WHIP, 32 strikeouts, and six walks over 32.1 innings Oh, and he recorded a one-hit complete game against the Cubs on Aug. 22.
As for New York, they have had trouble replicating the same success that they had prior to the All-Star break. Hits, runs, and wins have been hard to come by, and they have watched their once mighty first-place lead in the AL East drop down to just five games over the Tampa Bay Rays entering Saturday, Sept. 3.
Bader, who the Yankees acquired in the deal, is recovering from plantar fasciitis. Back on Aug. 30, manager Aaron Boone said that Bader was in a “10-day ramp up” to begin playing in minor league games.
The Cardinals are continuing to thrive, and Montgomery is helping them in their pursuit of clinching a postseason berth.
