Poles in Philadelphia are already being greased to prevent celebratory residents from climbing them in celebration of the team possibly winning the NLCS.
The Philadelphia Phillies took a 2-1 series lead over the San Diego Padres during Game 3 of the NLCS on Friday night. Fans were understandably hyped, screaming so loud that it could be heard up to a mile and a half away.
The city of Philadelphia is taking note and getting its city ready in case the Phillies advance to the World Series and fans go absolutely ballistic in the streets (they will).
Even though the Phillies need to win two more games, the city is already greasing some of its poles.
For those that don’t know, climbing street poles is a popular celebration (or riot, you bee the judge) activity, especially among Philadelphians when their sports teams win big games. Grease makes the poles more slippery and much more difficult to climb.
It doesn’t stop Philadelphians, for what it’s worth. They climbed the poles despite the grease after the Eagles won the Super Bowl. I mean, there’s even a competition in South Philly where people attempt to climb a greased pole. Philadelphians quite literally prepare for this moment.
Philly fans are getting ready to celebrate, and Phillies might not be the only team
Aside from just the Phillies, Things are really looking up in Philly right now from a sports standpoint. The Sixers just started their season and bring back mid-season acquisition James Harden alongside Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, and Tyrese Maxey.
Jalen Hurts is the real deal as quarterback and the Eagles are the only undefeated NFL team remaining. Right now, you have to assume the Eagles are the favorite to come out of the NFC to represent the conference in the Super Bowl.
So pace yourself, Philly fans… You may have a lot of greased poles to climb this year.
