Jazz Chisholm injury: Marlins star leaves game after dangerous slide

The injuries continue to pile up for the Marlins as another star is taken out when attempting to steal second base.

Marlins center fielder Jazz Chisholm had to leave the team’s game against the Twins in the first inning with an apparent injury to his right shoulder after sliding head-first into second base.

During the inning, Chisholm was able to get on base with a single. Chisholm attempted the steal second base at the same time that Twins pitcher Pablo Lopez turned around and threw the ball to second base. The speedster then started to slide head first and made contact with second baseman Kyle Farmer’s left shin.

Chisholm was on the ground for a little while, apparently in pain, when he was attended to by the training staff at second base. Chisholm was very slow to get up but was able to walk off the field under his own power. When Chisholm was walking off the field, he could be seen flexing his right hand.

Marlins: How long will Jazz Chisholm be out?

As of right now, the Marlins are reporting that Chisholm is receiving treatment for a stinger and is listed as day-to-day. Even though Chisholm is listed as day-to-day, the diagnosis of a stinger is a positive one. With the diagnosis of a stinger, Chisholm should not miss much, if any time since the symptoms do not linger that long.

Bryan De La Cruz took over for Chisholm at the start of the second inning in center field.

Injuries for the Marlins keep piling up. Chisholm is not the only Marlin who has been injured since the start of the season. Joey Wendle is on the 10-day injured list for a right intercostal strain. Johnny Cueto is also on the 15-day injured list for a right biceps tightness.

If the Marlins can be able to get Chisholm back sooner then later, he will be able to start getting back on track and help produce for the Marlins.
