Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds

Trevor Bauer claps back at Ronald Acuña on Twitter

Trevor Bauer had a great response to Ronald Acuña on Twitter.

The Cincinnati Reds offense disappeared this week in what ended up being a quick sweep at the hands of the Atlanta Braves. Reds ace Trevor Bauer was one of the only players on the team to actually have a good series.

Bauer went 7.2 innings of shutout baseball and had 12 strikeouts in Game 1. He even gave a little taunt as he walked off the mound. The problem was his offense combined to score zero runs in two games and now he is sitting at home.

Young Braves star Ronald Acuña decided to subtweet Bauer telling him to indeed go home. In good fun, Bauer clapped back with a video today.

Bauer focuses on his own success

This was the perfect way to counter the initial tweet from Acuña. He just provided the facts and how he mowed down the Braves lineup Wednesday.

The video was apparently even good enough to get a laugh out of the Braves star as he prepares for the NLDS.

Bauer takes a lot of heat for simply having a personality. He is going to make some people mad, but this is just a fun little video. Players will also have to be nice to him as he hits free agency and stands out as one of the top pitchers available.

However, it is clear that a few teams may not welcome Bauer due to who he is as a person. The Braves could be one team and the Houston Astros are the obvious group in that category.

Players are allowed to express their personalities more with social media and it seems baseball is slowly but surely moving on from the archaic “unwritten” rules of pretending no fun is allowed. Acuña responding in this case shows it is nothing more than a small joke that isn’t a huge negative thing.
