Watch: Eddie Rosario is a goober getting hilariously picked off (Video)

Cleveland Indians outfielder Eddie Rosario got picked off at second in the most hilarious way possible while facing his former team, the Minnesota Twins.

There’s getting picked off at second. Then there’s what happened to Indians outfielder Eddie Rosario.

On Thursday, as Cleveland faced off with the Twins, Rosario’s former team, the left fielder had a blunder of epic proportions.

Rosario tried to steal second when the throw from home to second skittered away from Andrelton Simmons’ glove. That really should have been the end of it, but Minnesota’s Jorge Polanco made a heads-up play and caught Rosario napping.

That would be an embarrassing enough gaff even if it weren’t at the field Rosario used to call home.

Eddie Rosario’s homecoming in Minnesota turned embarrassing but worked out

The mishap could have been much worse for Rosario. The out ended the sixth inning prematurely, with the score tied at 1-1. However, Rosario made up for it later. In the eighth inning, he broke the deadlock with a single scoring two runners.

The Indians won the game, 4-1, so no harm done. Rosario just has to live with that lowlight on his record. Hopefully, he learns from it and shows more urgency getting back to the bag.

Rosario spent the first six seasons of his career with the Twins. After the 2020 season, he went untendered and landed with the Indians. In Cleveland, he’s batting .254/.301/.369 with five home runs and 39 RBI.

The Indians are fighting to close to gap at the top of the AL Central. They’re two games behind the first-place White Sox as they enter the final series of this road trip.

The Twins are last in the division, though they recently went on a five-game winning streak. Losses to the Reds and the Indians ended that run.
