Good news has arrived for the Toronto Blue Jays, as slugger George Springer has been activated off the Injured List and is in the lineup on Monday.
With the Toronto Blue Jays hoping to close the season out with a bang and sneak into the postseason, their chances just received a big boost thanks to the return of George Springer. Earlier in the month, hearts stopped in Toronto when Springer suffered an injury against Seattle.
The slugger crashed into the outfield wall against the Mariners and suffered a Grade 1 knee sprain. He landed on the Injured List, but he was activated on Monday and is back in the lineup for the Blue Jays.
George Springer is back in action for the Toronto Blue Jays at the right time
This really is great news for Toronto. Entering the new week, the Blue Jays are 68-61 and 5.5 games back of the Boston Red Sox for the second AL Wild Card spot. Countless fans would be jacked up if Toronto knocked Boston out of the playoffs, especially all the folks over in the Bronx.
With that said, getting Springer back in action and with a healthy knee is crucial for Toronto wanting to get that job done. After a stellar career with the Houston Astros, Springer has arrived to the Blue Jays this season, but battled injuries throughout the year.
He’s only been able to play in 49 games this year, hitting .269 with 16 homers and 35 RBI. Now that he’s back in the lineup, Springer will be ready to keep swinging the lumber with plenty of fire and help this team record some big wins.
While he’s faced plenty of adversity this year, he can really turn things around by catching fire late in the campaign. Blue Jays fans will be ecstatic if that happens.
