St. Louis Cardinals left fielder Tyler O’Neill expressed solidarity with fellow players during the MLB lockout with a clever reference on Instagram.
Tyler O’Neill may still have a profile picture on Instagram, but he remains in solidarity with all MLB players heavily affected by the lockout.
On Sunday, O’Neill wed Stephanie Beck in what appears to be a private ceremony in Hualalai, Kona, Hawaii.
O’Neill captioned the photo with their wedding date, as well as the phrase, “locked in during lockout.”

Even though the lockout period has cooled talks between MLB teams and players, the O’Neills have had a busy autumn.
In September, Stephanie shared a photo from a bridal shower thrown for her by the Cardinals community.
“Love our Cardinals fam, thank you ladies for showering us,” she wrote.
The O’Neills first met in ninth grade, according to Stephanie’s Instagram. Stephanie congratulated Tyler for being drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 2013.
“I can honestly say I never would have thought this is where you’d be today,” Stephanie wrote at the time. “I could not think of someone more deserving to be given such an incredible opportunity; I could not be more proud of you.”
Today, the 26-year-old O’Neill enjoys the offseason after his third season as a St. Louis Cardinal. 2021 marked a breakout season for O’Neill, who started at left field for the Cardinals.
During their September surge in wins, O’Neill won the NL Player of the Week on Sept. 20, as well as NL Player of the Month for September. After the season, O’Neill won his second consecutive Golden Glove award as one of five Cardinals to do it — an MLB record.
Even though O’Neill has had an incredible few months, he is still cognizant of how difficult the lockout can be — although the Cardinals are in good shape to weather the winter.
