Rockies City Connect uniforms: Best memes and tweets

The Colorado Rockies unveiled their City Connect uniforms for this season, and Twitter users shared their thoughts on them.

Throughout the early portion of the season, various MLB teams have unveiled their City Connect alternate uniforms, such as the Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros. But on Friday, May 27, it was the Colorado Rockies‘ turn to reveal their new uniforms.

The Rockies showed off their City Connect uniforms on Twitter, but it does not feature the team’s signature black and purple color scheme. Instead, they are pine green with white. They are actually modeled after Colorado state’s license plates.

These uniforms will be debuted for the team’s June 4 game against the Atlanta Braves and will be worn for every Sunday home game for the remainder of the season.

Rockies: MLB Twitter reacts to new City Connect uniforms

Much like any change to a sports team’s uniforms, they are going to be met with mixed responses. That is exactly what happened as soon as the Rockies hit the publish button on social media.

There are mountain designed in pine green with white snow caps on the front of the uniforms with “Colorado” written across the chest. There are other additional details about what is featured on the uniforms, courtesy of the Rockies’ official website.

There is purple piping on the sleeves of the jersey and the legs of the pants, which is meant as a tribute to the purple row of seats at Coors Field, which is marked to represent being one mile above sea level.

There is also a yellow patch on the right sleeve that features the abbreviated “Rox,”  and two black diamonds, signifying Double Black Diamond skiing.

Finally, the hats are white and pine green with a new circle logo featuring purple mountains and a blue sky with “CO” written above.

“We wanted it to be a classic look, a Colorado look and there were other ideas bounced out there and about, going a little more wild or crazier than this, but we thought this would appeal not only to our younger fans and the younger generations, but we thought it would appeal to our older fan base,” said Rockies vice president Jim Kellogg, h/t ESPN. “It’s classic, it’s clean and that’s what people think of Denver and Colorado when they enjoy a ballgame.”

So what do you think about Colorado’s new home uniforms? Are they a thumbs up or a thumbs down?
