Bryce Harper smokes first home run with Phillies, gets curtain call (Video)

Bryce Harper is on the board with his first home run as a member of the Phillies.

The Phillies $330 million man, Bryce Harper, hit his first home run with the Phillies and got a curtain call as he’s officially welcomed to Philadelphia.

Harper smacked the pitch from Jesse Biddle over the right field wall for his first of what will be many home runs with the Phillies. There was no doubt on this one. As soon as you heard the crack of the bat on the ball, the only question was how far that ball was gonna fly.

After trotting around the bases, fans demanded a curtain call to which Harper was happy to oblige.

After receiving some sarcastic boos on Opening Day for not hitting four home runs and earning his $330 million in one game, Harper settled in and let this one fly. This is an exciting time for Phillies fans after the signing of Harper, the big fish they chased for almost the entirety of the offseason.

With a young ace in Aaron Nola front-lining the rotation and Harper bolstering a lineup that includes budding star Rhys Hoskins, who hit a grand slam on Opening Day, the Phillies are in the mix to win the National League East or at worst, compete for a Wild Card spot this year.

If Harper has another 35 or so of those long balls in him this year, the Phillies could be the team to beat in the East.
