The MLB season is alive and well in the campaign’s earliest stages. Without overreacting, let’s take a look at the top 5 prospects who could help the New York Mets in 2019.
The New York Mets are right in the thick of things within the competitive and deep National League East division. Although, the team has been winning games in a manner that no one thought they would be.
Owners of one of the more potent lineups in the league, the team’s offense has led the charge. Pete Alonso has been as good as advertised, Michael Conforto is back healthy and producing and many other role players such as Wilson Ramos, J.D. Davis and Amed Rosario have been hitting well. Also, Todd Frazier just came back, and we have yet to see Jed Lowrie, so the lineup will only get deeper as guys come back from injury.
This wasn’t the blueprint to success laid out this offseason. With Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard, Zack Wheeler and Steven Matz, the Mets were going to be a team with deep starting pitching and a solid pen. Instead, the complete opposite has happened. So, with a team hovering around the threshold with their luxury tax payroll, who are the prospects the team can turn to for help in 2019?
