3 players who deserve more credit for White Sox 2005 World Series win

The Chicago White Sox last won the World Series in 2005 thanks to key contributions from several players.

The Chicago White Sox have not been to the postseason since 2008 in what has become a long and painful rebuilding process. It is easy to forget the team rolled through the 2005 postseason en route to a sweep of the Houston Astros in the World Series.

The White Sox lost one game that entire postseason and held off the Astros in four close games. No game was decided by more than two runs, and legends were made in Chicago in what was still a nail-biting series despite the sweep.

This was the last great White Sox team and it is easy to glorify players like Jermaine Dye, Mark Buehrle and Paul Konerko. However, there were several other players on the team whose names may not stand the test of time to a new generation of Sox fans.

A few players stand out after all this time has passed as those who deserve much more credit for bringing a title back to Chicago for the first time since 1917. Let’s take a look at a few names who should be remembered by diehard White Sox fans, but who may need to be brought up once again to jog the memories of other MLB fans.
