New York Yankees outfielder Clint Frazier plans to be safe during the 2020 MLB season.
There have been MLB players testing positive for COVID-19 and others deciding to opt out of the entire 2020 season due to fears concerning the virus. There is nothing wrong with such a move, and the entire league will have to ensure the safety of everyone involved for a season to take place without any issues.
New York Yankees outfielder Clint Frazier is one player who has openly talked about a new way to approach the season that makes plenty of sense. His strategy may even become the new normal if there are more positive cases in MLB.
Frazier’s plan is essentially an act of common sense as he intends to wear a mask at the plate.
Clint Frazier’s kind gesture
Frazier makes the point about how every batter is in the box along with a catcher and an umpire. Any critics of his plans are choosing to ignore the fact he is simply looking out for the health and safety of those around him. A few positive cases could end up shutting down the season, so there is nothing wrong with caution.
The 25-year-old can perhaps inspire others to follow his lead if he can show that wearing a mask during a game has no effect on his abilities both at the plate and in the field. More players following his lead could also prevent others from opting out if there is a better sense of safety during the games.
MLB players are not in a “bubble,” and that presents a glaring problem for the season. Testing has already proven to be unreliable for certain teams and it may take more than the tests alone to complete the season.
The virus does not pick and choose who it infects. An extra layer of safety is not a bad idea during the upcoming MLB season.
