Ronald Acuña Jr. is back from the injured list, while Braves fans will surely be excited that Ian Anderson has been called up.
It’s been a great day of news for the Atlanta Braves. On Tuesday morning, the club announced a pair of big updates, starting with Ronald Acuña Jr. being activated off the injured list after missing some time.
In addition, Atlanta fans out there will be happy to know that top pitching prospect Ian Anderson is headed to the show, with the Braves officially calling him up. With Atlanta’s rotation struggling a bit this season, getting Anderson up to the bigs is of course welcome news.
Ronald Acuña Jr. is all healed from his left wrist injury and is ready to return to the lineup
Acuña originally went on the 10-day injured list due to inflammation in his left wrist, but he’s since recovered and will look to start belting dingers like normal. Thus far this season, the outfielder is hitting .258, with four home runs and nine RBI.
He of course put up monster numbers last season. The youngster hit 41 homers and made his first All-Star Game. Despite Acuña missing some time, the Braves currently stand at 16-12 and hold a 1.5-game lead over the Marlins as of this writing.
As for Anderson, Braves fans have surely been waiting to see him get called up for a little while now. The 6-foot-3, 170-pounder is immediately getting thrown into the fire, as he’ll start on Tuesday night against the New York Yankees.
The Yankees of course feature a loaded lineup and their sluggers will look to rattle Anderson early on for his first start of the year. The powerful hurler will look to send a statement, though.
It’s been a big day already for Atlanta, with more excitement coming for the showdown with New York. All eyes will be on Anderson to see how he does.
