Ronald Acuna channels the charisma of the former UFC champ-champ after win.
One might say that ever since his arrival to the MLB in 2018, Ronald Acuna Jr. has not been here to take part — he’s here to take over and get the Atlanta Braves to their first World Series title since 1995.
That taking over phrase was uttered by the notorious former UFC champ-champ Conor McGregor in July 2014, and Acuna channeled McGregor’s spirit and used another one of his best-known quotes in a social media post.
Acuna took to Instagram to deliver a message following the Braves’ 9-5 win over Miami Marlins in Game 1 of the NLDS.
Acuna went 2-for-4 in the game, blasting an early home run in the first inning to give his team a 1-0 lead. With that, he became the youngest player in MLB history to hit a leadoff home run in the postseason.
The Marlins, however, would respond and make tempers flare by drilling Acuna later on in the game.
Acuna then delivered another RBI in the seventh inning as part of a six-run rally by Atlanta to take a dominating lead after entering the inning trailing 4-3.
The quote Acuna used in his caption was said by McGregor following his epic win at UFC 205, which claimed him the UFC lightweight title and made him the first UFC fighter in history to hold two weight division championships simultaneously.
It’s also not the first time he’s channeled McGregor, doing so previously to troll Trevor Bauer after the Reds pitcher strutted off the mound.
